WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools would like to invite Wilmington Parents/Guardians and community members to attend the Parent Education Workshop, entitled, “Combating Underage Substance Use and Abuse” sponsored by the Middlesex Partnerships for Youth in conjunction with Wilmington Public Schools on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the Wilmington Middle School, 25 Carter Lane.
This workshop is a follow-up to the October 28th community forum and is intended to provide tools and strategies for parents on what to look for and how to talk to children about substance use and abuse. The speaker at this workshop will be Jaime Klufts, Prevention & Education Coordinator for Middlesex Partnerships for Youth.
Underage substance use continues to be a major issue in our schools and communities. While street drugs are readily available in many communities, teen drug users may easily obtain over-the-counter or prescription medications from a variety of sources, including their family’s medicine cabinet. Information about the opiate epidemic is also included in this workshop.
If you are planning to attend and are in need of childcare, we ask that you please complete a registration form which you can access by going to the following link http://goo.gl/forms/kfXWEhyWx9 so that we have an appropriate number of child care providers available. This link can also be found on the homepage of our website at wpsk12.com.
We hope that you will join us for this informative event.
