WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Girls Grade 1 Games:
Kansas City vs. Boston Breakers
The air was crisp and filled with excitement, as the much-anticipated match between FC Kansas City and the Boston Breakers commenced. Fantastic ball skills were displayed by Ellie Gillis and Savannah Beatrice resulting in goals by Daniella Madore and Emma Callahan. The defensive play of Olivia Raposa and Caitlin Hayes kept the FC Kansas City in excellent shape. The crowd roared at the electric energy and footwork from Hailey Reguera and Lucy Mendoza.
Chicago Red Stars vs. Seattle Reign
The crowd was kept at the edge of their seats this week, as the Red Stars, led by the offensive skills of Bailey O’Connor and Celina Vo resulted in scoring opportunities for Angelina Vo and Emma Tarin. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Jenna Giammarco and Olivia Martiniello kept the ball out of their zone for most of the game.
Girls Grade 2 Games:
Portland Thorns vs. Seattle Reign
Despite the cold temperatures, the crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Portland Thorns led by Sofia Tentindo, Zoey Helbert, and Abigail Fennelly got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Lindsay Broussard and Allison Boutoures led the scoring charge while the great defensive efforts of Charlotte Forcina, Ava Cirone, Casey Kelley and Cayley Israelson kept the action going. Isabella Zaya and Isabella Rogers also played a great game in net keeping the game in hand.
Houston Dash vs. Boston Breakers
The Boston Breakers would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Nicole Gallucci and Alexis LeBlanc brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Summer Sands, Micayla King, Kaitlyn Shackelford and Katherine Hughes. In addition, the midfield play of Madelyn Oatis, Samantha Crowley, Sabrina Fitzgerald, and Leah Murphy kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.

The Dash led by Gianna Grieco and Kristal Wells got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Shannon Barrett and Ava Warford resulting in goals by Sophia Cataldi and Cate MacDonald. The midfield and defensive play of Skylar Nguyen and Tessa Lebrecque-Pineau kept the Dash in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Erin McCarthy made some spectacular saves.
Boys Grade 2 Games:
LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo
In what could have been confused as a World Cup Match, the LA Galaxy started off strong with great offensive pressure from Ronin Uftring, Isaac Tavares, Owen Wills & Cameron Pereira. Coupled with the steel-like defense of Dominic Dicenso, Tyler Matthew, Camden Grey, Ryan Lavorato & Owen Mahoney, their efforts made for an incredible game. The Hope Solo like effort of Nolan Gouthro and Chris Smith provided solid goal-keeping to keep their team alive.
DC United vs. Chicago Fire
The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats this week as DC United, led by the offensive skills of Alexander D’Angelo, Luke Kitanov, Logan Zimmer, Ethan Afthim, John Haggerty, and Adam Veliz resulted in scoring opportunities by Timothy Watson and Dylan Grace. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Brendan Ferrone, Quinn Stockman, Ryan Grace, Chase Heffernan, and Luke Deprofio kept the ball out of their zone for much of the game.
