OBITUARY: Donald A. Dewar, Sr.

Dewar, Donald A. Sr., of Windham, N.H., formerly of Stoneham, MA passed away on October 15th . Born in Cambridge, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Angeline (Deneault) of Stoneham and brother to the late Arthur Dewar and his wife Betty of CO. and D. Richard Dewar and his wife Mary Lou of SC. Don is survived by his four children Donald A. Dewar Jr. and his wife Li Lin of N.H., Daniel J. Dewar and his partner Krista Bowan of Reading, Michele A. Woonton and her husband Ken, along with her late husband Dean Gordon of NH, and Dianne M. Dewar-Greenberg and her husband Ronnie of North Reading. Father-in-law to Paula Dewar of Groton and Nancy Dewar of Lynn. Donald was a doting and loving grandfather and uncle to his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to being a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Donald was an Air Force Veteran, business owner of the Clipper Barber Shop in Wilmington for over 30 years and is a honorary life member of the Elks, serving as Massachusetts past State President, past District Deputy and past Exalted Ruler of Wakefield Lodge #1276. Don leaves behind many friends and loved ones at the Elks. To all that knew Donald, he was a selfless giver supporting many charitable foundations and an avid Boston sports fan.

His funeral will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), NORTH READING, at Reading line, on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Service in the Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill St., North Reading at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to either the Penney Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund located at PO Box 262, North Reading, MA 01864 or the Elks National Foundation located at 2750 North Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256 (please include Donald Dewar’s name & Lodge #1276 with your memorial donation).
