PHOTO OF THE DAY: Wilmington Field Hockey Raises $500 In Breast Cancer Fundraiser

Friends of Wilmington Field Hockey raised $475 for Dana Farber during yesterday afternoon’s Breast Cancer Fundraiser at April Memorial Field (Town Park).

The event featured a “Cats vs. Kittens’ game between the field hockey teams at the high school and middle school. The high school team was victorious, 3-2.

The afternoon also included raffles, refreshments and family fun activities, including a dunk tank.

“It was amazing!,” said Michele O’Donoghue, one of the event’s co-organizer. “We had a great turnout with beautiful weather. It was a fun day for all field hockey families, friends, players and coaches.”

Perhaps the highlight of the event was Wilmington High School Hall-of-Fame field hockey coaches Jan Cassidy-Wood and Jan Urquhart making a surprise appearance and “coming out of retirement” to coach in the exhibition game.
