Wilmington High School Maintains Accreditation, Receives High Praise

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington High School received high praise from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), after the school submitted its 5-year progress report, as required under the association’s 10-year accreditation process.

In a recent letter written to WHS Principal Linda Peters and shared by School Committee member Julie Broussard at the board’s latest meeting on Wednesday, October 8, NEASC notified Peters that her progress report was accepted and Wilmington High’s accreditation will be continued.

NEASC’s review committee was pleased to learn of numerous improvements made to Wilmington High School since its 2010 accreditation, including:

  • The completion of the new facility and upgrading of technology
  • The implementation of interdisciplinary instructional pods
  • The completion of the summative assessments by subject discipline
  • The collaborative work to utilize data to inform instruction
  • The increase in professional learning opportunities for teachers that addresses active learning for students
  • The support for the placement of special education students in general education classes for the purpose of inclusion and raising their social, academic and civic expectations
  • The increase in higher education partnerships through Middlesex Community College
