WILMINGTON, MA — In a town with more than a dozen restaurants that serve pizza, Sweet Pizza — which just opened yesterday — stands out.
The pizza is delicious, the ingredients are fresh, the sauce has a sweet taste to it, and the look of the pizzas and slices are memorable — they’re square-shaped. Sweet Pizza’s terminology takes some getting used to — “slices” are “squares” and “pizzas” are “sheets” — but it adds to the restaurant’s uniqueness.
The 1,600-square foot space — with only a few tables — is definitely geared more towards a take-out experience than a dine-in one, but the restaurant is clean and well-designed with a modern vibe, including two customer touch-screen stations that orders can be placed on.
The owner, Steve Stefanopoulos, has 30 years in the restaurant industry, most recently serving as Area Manager for Papa Gino’s for four years, overseeing the daily operations of 11 locations.
Sweet Pizza is located at 206 Ballardvale Street, in the plaza across from Target. The restaurant is open Sunday-Wednesday from 10:30am to 9pm, and Thursday-Saturday from 10:30am to 10pm.

Below is a photo I took of the restaurant’s menu. Below that are photos shared by the restaurant on its Facebook page yesterday. The restaurant has Wilmington Apple’s stamp of approval (for whatever that’s worth!).
