WILMINGTON, MA — Is your child interested in the fast, fun, and awesome sport of Hockey but never played? Then we’ve got the program for them — Buzzer Hockey!
Buzzer Hockey is a fun, inclusive, and safe introduction to Youth Hockey. Children are welcomed to the ice and begin practicing the game of Hockey utilizing USA Hockey’s American Developmental Model (ADM) of small area practices and games. The ADM system accelerates the child’s development in the game of Hockey by increasing the number of ‘puck touches’ every time on the ice, as well as encouraging the boys and girls to constantly move and make quick decisions. Through years of study, USA Hockey has proven that this type of training produces better prepared athletes who are more well-rounded Hockey players when they reach the upper levels of Youth Hockey and beyond.
– Ice time: Saturday 7:00am – 7:50am and Sunday 1:30pm – 2:45pm (at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington on Rte. 38)
– Approximately 80 minutes of this time is utilized for small area skills practices in which small groups of like-ability players are rotated through various drills on the ice disguised as fun games
– Remaining 40 – 45 minutes will be utilized for 3 vs. 3 cross-ice games in which puck pursuit and skating are emphasized
– Season may also include several “ice-trades” with other local town’s Buzzer programs so the boys and girls can get a feel for competing against other towns in a fun and safe environment (representing extra ice time)
– Players will be given Wilmington hockey Jerseys to use for the season (returned at the end of the season). Full equipment is required.
– Participation in a Buzzer-level tournaments may be offered during the year (Small additional fee may be required. Details to follow)
