TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Water Main Upgrade On Burnap St. To Begin September 14

WILMINGTON, MA — Starting Monday, September 14, the Water Department will begin the installation of a new 8-inch cement lined ductile iron water main that will start in the vicinity of #37 Burnap Street and continue until the end of the road. The new 8-inch water main, which will be replacing an existing 2-inch main, will provide improvements in both water quality and quantity. In addition to a new water main, the Town will be adding another fire hydrant to that stretch of Burnap Street.

Work will begin at approximately 8:00 AM. Please try and refrain from parking vehicles on the road during construction, but if this is unavoidable, please park on the even side of the road.

Crews anticipate completing the main installation in approximately three weeks and will begin transferring individual water services to the new main approximately one week later.  Residents will be notified by Water Department personnel if their water services will be temporarily interrupted. Unfortunately, difficulties can occur and water services could be unexpectedly disrupted. The Department suggests residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator during this project in the event of unexpected issues.

(NOTE: The above was recently posted on the Department of Public Works website.)
