Wilmington’s 9/11 Memorial, located in the Wilmington High School courtyard, is officially on the National September 11 Memorial & Museum’s list of registered memorials. Dedication ceremonies were held with the general public and the high school student body earlier this week. Look for an article on Wilmington Apple about the dedication tomorrow.

- Description: On the 10th Anniversary of 9/11/01, a committee of students was formed to educate future generations about the events of this tragic day. The memorial in the courtyard represents the four plane crash sites where lives were lost due to terrorist attacks on our nation. Encased in glass is a piece of the steel beam from one of the towers. In remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001, this memorial is dedicated to the victims, heroes, and all those who serve our nation.
- Additional Information: This memorial is in the courtyard of Wilmington High School. It was created by WHS students and paid for through community fundraising efforts.
