WILMINGTON, MA — 58 incidents were entered into the Wilmington Police Log on Friday, August 28. Here are TEN highlights:
- A Carolyn Road caller reported she received a scam IRS call. Incident was logged. (1:51pm)
- A suspicious man walking around High Street with a handheld device was reported. Police spoke with the man, who works for Verizon and will be doing work in the area. (3:06pm)
- A Lords Court resident reported a solicitor came to their door without identification. Solicitor was selling magazines or accepting cash donations on behalf of inner city children. Solicitor described as a black man, late 20’s, with a light blue shirt and tan pants. Police spoke with the solicitor, who claimed to be from “Grateful Hands” out of Eastpoint, Georgia. Police advised the man to contact the police before soliciting, to advise them of which neighborhoods he’ll be in. (4:26pm)
- A blue 2005 Honda CRV and a blue 2008 Volkswagen Jetta were involved in a minor motor vehicle crash on Main Street. No injuries noted. (6:08pm)
- Caller reported four kittens were near the roadway on West Street. Caller was concerned they are very small. A message was left for the Animal Control Officer, who was unable to locate the kittens, but will check again tomorrow. (7:19pm)
- Erik A. Toribio (20, Lawrence) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, speeding, and failure to wear a seat belt. He was pulled over on Salem Street. (8:47pm)
- A Woodside Avenue resident reported was she believed to be a flashlight or cell phone light in the woods. Police investigated and found a car that appeared to have rolled out of park and drove itself in the woods. Police contacted the homeowner, a neighbor to the caller, who retrieved his car from the woods. (10:01pm)
- MBTA reported 2 men on the tracks behind Triton Car Wash putting debris on the tracks. Police found a small group at Triton. One admitted to running out onto the tracks. All were advised and sent on their way. (10:11pm)
- Sonny’s Mobile on the Run reported an abandoned vehicle in their parking lot. Vehicle arrived around 3pm. Registered owner lives in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Pawtucket Police contacted the owner, who claimed he sold the vehicle over a year ago. (10:39pm)
- Multiple calls reporting mailboxes knocked down at 41 Houghton Road and 60 Houghton Road, with damage also done to mailboxes at 55 Houghton Road and 8 Kendall Ave. One caller stated this is the second time this month his mailbox had been knocked down. (11:10pm)
