WILMINGTON, MA — 78 incidents were entered into the Wilmington Police Log on Thursday, August 27. Here are ELEVEN highlights:
- A red 2016 Ford Explorer and a brown 2001 Mercury Marquis were involved in a motor vehicle crash at Bank of America on Main Street. No injuries reported. One driver was issued a citation for defective brakes. (11:36am)
- An Ashwood Avenue caller reported her mailbox and post were missing. Resident reported it was taken sometime between 7am and now. (12:17pm)
- An officer working on a detail requested a cruiser to evaluate a woman who drove on the sidewalk near Nichols Funeral Home on Middlesex Avenue. Outcome of evaluation wasn’t shared in log, but woman’s car was towed. (1:51pm)
- An Ashwood Avenue caller reported a solicitor on Ashwood Avenue. The solicitor was a black male, mid 20’s, approximately 5’9″, wearing a white shirt and kahki’s. Solicitor told resident he had permission from Andover to solicit. Resident told him he was now in Wilmington. Solicitor continued to go door-to-door. Police advised the solicitor of town laws and directed him back to Andover. (4:50pm)
- A syringe was found on the sidewalk on Woodside Avenue. Police retrieved the syringe for destruction. (5:30pm)
- A Royal Street resident contacted the station to have it logged that her phone number is being used to make vulgar prank phone calls. (6:30pm)
- A syringe was found in the roadway of Grove Avenue. Police retrieved the syringe for destruction. (6:31pm)
- A Marion Street caller reported a man kicking his dog in the front yard and then dragged it into the house. Man admitted to the police he yelled at this dog, but stated he did not harm it. The Animal Control Officer was contacted to follow-up tomorrow. (7:11pm)
- An Andover Street resident reported a solicitor came to his door — matching the description of the previous solicitor. Solicitor claimed to be soliciting for “Grateful Hands,” a 501c3 organization out of Eastpoint, Georgia. Police to follow up with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. (8:12pm)
- A Beverly Avenue caller complained of a neighbor yelling for over 20 minutes. Police found it to be a verbal argument between a father and daughter over a cell phone. (10:56pm)
- A Hopkins Street caller reported that a solicitor came to her door at 8:30pm looking to collect money for a charity. Resident wanted the incident logged. Police advised resident to call when they are in the area next time. (10:56pm)
