WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s fallen hero, Sean Collier, was a longtime supporter of the Jimmy Fund.
For the third consecutive year, some of Collier’s family and friends have formed a team — “Team Collier Strong” — to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk in Sean’s honor.
According to the team’s fundraising page:
On September 27, participants of the 2015 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai will take steps to change the odds for patients facing cancer.
The funds raised through the Walk enable leaders at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to apply monies rapidly when promising new research opportunities arise. Your gift enhances the programs and initiatives that serve patients and their families who come to Dana-Farber for its signature “total patient care philosophy.” These gifts provide the most forward thinking form of support.
Thank you for supporting Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

The 12-member team has already raised over $9,000, with an ultimate goal of taking in more than $25,000.
