Wilmington Residents Invited To Audition For Reading Symphony Orchestra

READING, MA — The Reading Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions on Tuesday, August 25, 6:30pm-10pm and Tuesday, September 1, 6:30pm-10pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading (239 Woburn Street).

The orchestra currently has openings for:

  • Bassoon
  • French Horns (including principal)
  • Violas
  • Double Basses
  • Percussion

For these auditions, musicians are asked to prepare excerpts from two (2) contrasting pieces: one that is fast and technical and a second that is slow and lyrical. These selections may be movements from the same concerto or sonata, or two completely different pieces. Each excerpt should last no more than 3 minutes. Candidates will also be asked to sight-read, and no scales will be required.
