The following is the latest message (tweaked for clarity) from the Wilmington Pipeline Awareness Group:
FERC, the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission, will be holding a scoping meeting on August 11 at 7:00 PM at Dracut Senior High School, 1540 Lakeview Ave, Dracut, MA 01826. All are encouraged to attend as this will be an opportunity for residents to relay their concerns about the NED project’s impact on Wilmington and surrounding communities.
There will be a panel of FERC staff to hear comments from all parties. These are usually limited to 3 minutes (complete with a timer or lights and buzzer to keep things on schedule). There is no back and forth discussion or Q&A with FERC, but this is our chance to have face time with them and express concerns about the local impact of a pipeline running by our homes, water supply and conservation land. Verbal comments are limited to a few minutes, but there will be many people commenting, so if you want to speak at this meeting, please arrive around 5:30 to sign up.
Kinder Morgan will have information on display and will be available to answer questions one on one before and after. Near the beginning of the meeting, they will make a brief statement.
