POLICE LOG for July 22: Blind Pedestrian Stuck on Lowell St; Drug Activity At Gas Stations

WILMINGTON, MA — 75 incidents were entered into the Wilmington Police Log on Wednesday, July 22.  Here are SEVEN highlights:

  • A caller reported a white man, wearing a red shirt and carrying a Market Basket bag full of clothes, approached him as he was walking his dog on Shawsheen Avenue and asked him for spare change. He also saw this man yesterday in the same area. Police located the man at the Corner Store. The man checked okay — he was homeless and was just looking for change. (7:40am)
  • A Boutwell Street caller reported an abandoned bike just past her house. Bike was identified as a purple Free Spirit Classic bike. DPW was notified. (10:32am)
  • The Manager of Sonny’s Mobile on the Run on Lowell Street flagged down a police officer, reporting he believes there’s an increase in drug activity in his lot between 10pm and midnight. He would like extra patrols during that time. (12:34pm)
  • The hold-up alarm at the Reading Cooperative Bank on Middlesex Avenue was activated. It was a false alarm stemming from an inspection. (12:53pm)
  • Numerous hypodermic needles were retrieved on Main Street and brought back to the station for destruction. (1:54pm)
  • Aleksandri Kruti (23, Peabody) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a license and failing to stop for a blind pedestrian. Kruti’s white 2000 Toyota Corolla struck a pedestrian at a very low speed on Lowell Street. (3:17pm)
  • Suspected drug activity was reported in a gray 2004 Nissan Maxima parked in the Hess Express lot on Main Street. Police investigated and confiscated marijuana. Police then went to speak with the individual’s parents at their house. (3:48pm)
