Wilmington Man Allegedly Drives Drunk, Crashes Into MBTA Police Cruiser

On July 23, 2015, at approximately 7:15pm, a Transit Police officer in a marked TPD cruiser was parked on West Broadway Street, South Boston, just outside the MBTA Broadway station, when his vehicle was side swiped by Ford pick up truck. The operator of the Ford truck, later identified as George Mann, 55, of Wilmington, continued traveling on West Broadway Street. The officer activated his emergency lights and siren and caught up to Mann, initiating a stop of Mann’s vehicle at the corner of A Street and West Broadway. Subsequent to speaking with Mann, it was discovered Mann was not duly licensed to operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts. Additionally, the officer believed, based on his observations, Mann was under the influence of intoxicating liquors.

Mann was placed into custody for O.U.I. Liquor, Leaving the Scene with Property Damage, and Operating without a License. Mann was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

The events listed above are allegations; All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
