WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a listing of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked (RR). Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding  support for library programs!

Adult Events

Exploring Entrepreneurship: The SBA Advantage
Monday, July 27, 10am
This workshop will provide information on the various Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and services available for start-up and existing businesses. Learn how the SBA can assist in starting or growing a business. Led by Lisa Gonzalez Welch, SBA Economic Development Specialist.

Author Talk: Michael Blanding—The Map Thief
Tuesday, July 28, 7 pm
In The Map Thief, award-winning investigative reporter Michael Blanding tells the true-life story of a map dealer–turned-criminal E. Forbes Smiley III, who stole more than $3 million worth of antique maps from rare-book libraries around the country.

Bushido–The Way of the Samurai
Thursday, July 30, 7 pm
Local history buff and educator, Dan Hall, shares his studies on the warrior culture of Japan. What did life look like for a Samurai lord? How did duty bind the Samurai into sacred bonds of honor, bonds that followed them even into death’s cold embrace? Dan will answer these questions and more.

Storytime: Under the Sea
Tuesday, July 28, 10am
Listen to stories and make a fun craft! No registration necessary, but attendance is limited to the first 30 children who arrive. Ages 3-6.

Create Your Own Comic Book Shoes (RR)
Tuesday, July 28, 2:30pm
Bring in a pair of your favorite sneakers or heels and transform your plain shoes into a one-of-a-kind creation using old comic books, magazines, and Mod Podge. Grades 4+

Jeannie Mack Kids Music (RR)
Wednesday, July 29, 10am
Join us for a lively, witty, cheerful, bounce-around, wiggly, giggly musical experience! Sing along with Jeannie Mack as she sings and plays her own original songs and other children’s favorites! All ages.

Harry Potter Extravaganza! (RR)

International Travel Adventures (RR)

Do you dream of traveling? Come to this program to experience the music, food, and culture of three unique countries: England, Italy, and Germany. Grades 4+

Superhero Training Academy (RR)
Friday July 31, 10 am
Find out your superhero name and discover your secret super powers. Then take this week’s superhero skills challenge, play Kryptonite Hot Potato, and create your own superhero cuffs. Kindergarten+

Library News

Art Exhibit
Linda Molloy, local artist, currently has her watercolor paintings and photography on display in the library’s meeting room. Her watercolors reflect her love of flowers, while her landscape photography depicts the essence of nature. Linda is Co-Chair of the Wilmington Council for the Arts and has participated in the Annual Art Exhibition since 1990.
