WILMINGTON, MA — Paul Cardello, Chairman of the Wilmington-based iPods for Wounded Veterans, recently announced several awards given out by the organization.
Wilmington High School juniors Samantha Pitzi, Jocelyn Ferraro and Keara Martins received the Dear Soldier 2015 Merit Award. Pitzi was recognized for her volunteer work with the group for the past two years. Ferraro and Martins were recognized for their work with the WHS Local Heroes Club, led by teacher Dawn Martell.
The 2015 Military Community Service Award was given to Malden Catholic Junior Brian Liwo of Melrose, a Naval Academy applicant.
The 2015 Leadership Award was given to Saint Sebastian seniors John Rourke, who will be attending Colby College, and Charlie Gordan, who will be attending Middlebury College, for their efforts in establishing the Dear Soldier Program in the Needham and Norwood communities.
The Dear Soldiers first Catholic Middle School Award was given to Saint Patrick’s School in Stoneham for their outstanding heartfelt letter writing.
iPods for Wounded Veterans also offers thanks Stephanie Anderson and North Middlesex Regional High School for establishing the Dear Soldier Program in Townsend.
