Below is a letter sent to Paul Cardello, Chairman of Wilmington-based iPod for Wounded Veterans, from a wounded vet at Fort Belvoir who received letters as part of the organization’s “Dear Soldier” campaign. It is shared with permission.
Mr. Cardello,
I wanted to write you an email to personally thank you for the tremendous letters that I and several other (~45total) wounded veterans received last weekend at the “iPods for Wounded Veterans” USO rally held in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Many of your students wrote extremely heart-warming and generous words of encouragement in the packet I received. Please accept my deepest appreciation for these kind letters. As a veteran of eight deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan it is utterly amazing to bear witness to the level of patriotism and genuine concern your student and faculty provide to service members. For that I am deeply touched.
May God bless you, and the community of supporters that make up organizations like “iPods for Wounded Veterans” that take time out of your busy schedules to bestow upon us sincere words of encouragement and support.
Very Respectfully,
Major Paul Troy
