‘Where Angels Play’ Foundation Announces Date of Sean Collier Playground Construction

WILMINGTON, MA — At the Wilmington Board of Selectmen’s Meeting on June 22, it was announced that the Where Angels Play Foundation, in collaboration with the Town of Wilmington and with the family’s blessing, will be constructing a playground to honor Wilmington fallen hero Sean Collier in mid-to-late September.  (Read that story HERE.)

And, thanks to an announcement on the Foundation’s website yesterday, we now that the mid-to-late September date will be Tuesday, September 22.  The announcement reads:

“The Where Angels Play Foundation, in partnership with the city of Wilmington, MA, is excited to announce a playground to be built in honor of MIT Patrolman Sean Collier.  Officer Collier was killed in line of duty in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon Bombing.

The Collier Family, The City of Wilmington, and Where Angels Play Foundation have combined their efforts to support the children of Wilmington with a safe, fun, and interactive playscape as a symbolic gift from Sean, whose life was committed to the advocacy of children.

With the overwhelming support of the Collier Family, this playground will reflect the personality and interests of Sean, a life dedicated to the safety of children and a love of community, country, and the American flag.”

Wilmington Apple will have more information as the project date approaches, but if you’re interested in volunteering your time or making a donation, contact the Foundation HERE.
