Wilmington Girls U10-1 Team Wins Commissioners Cup

WILMINGTON, MA — The U10-1 Team finished their regular season with one loss earning the 4th Seed in the competitive Division 1 Commissioners’ Cup Tournament.

In order to qualify for the Cup the team won their final two games facing tough competition against Woburn and Billerica. The momentum was with the team as they headed into the final weekend of the season.

The girls played their best soccer of the season in the tournament with their solid passes from defense to attack, high pressure defense, and a nose for the goal.

The team entered the tournament with the lowest goals against (5) in Division 1 and the effective goal keeping carried the team through the tournament as they did not allow a goal scored against the top teams in U10.

The team dominated on offensive finishing off 7 goals in three games to win the Cup! Our Wildcats defeated #1 Seed Stoneham 1-0, #3 Seed Woburn 4-0 and finished the tournament defeating the only team that handed the team a loss this season, #2 Seed Tewksbury 2-0.

Great effort by each player to give the team five commanding wins in a row to end the season as U10 Commissioner’s Cup Champions!
