WILMINGTON, MA — At last night’s Wilmington School Committee Meeting, Chair Peggy Kane announced that the Committee and Superintendent Mary DeLai have agreed upon a 3.75% raise for Fiscal Year 2016, beginning July 1.
“We’re happy to say she’s accepted, so we will have another excellent year with our Superintendent,” said Kane.
The Committee voted on the raise during an Executive Session earlier in the evening. Members Peggy Kane, Ginny Bonish and Julie Broussard served on the negotiation team.
Each School Committee member recently conducted their own private evaluation of DeLai. Those seven evaluations will be reviewed and combined into one overall evaluation, which will be made public and discussed in the fall.
DeLai is entering her second year at the helm of Wilmington Public Schools.
Chair Peggy Kane also announced at Wednesday’s meeting that the Committee has agreed upon a 3-year contract with the Wilmington School Nurses Union.
The Committee unanimously approved the memorandum of agreement at the meeting, after discussing it privately in Executive Session. The Nurses Union had already ratified the contract. Terms were not disclosed at the meeting.
It appears the process went much smoother than the last round of negotiations between the Committee and the Nurses.
