Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, June 13.
Boys Kindergarten games:
Colorado Rapids vs. Philadelphia Union
The Colorado Rapid ended a fantastic season on a high noe, as they continued their impressive goal scoring streak. The backbone of the team in Cameron Molina, Ryan Archer, Maxwell Bagtaz and Evan’s Walsh all contributed to an outstanding finish to the Rapids season.
Portland Timbers vs. Chicago Fire
Top-Notch play kept people watching this one. Excellent offensive plays by Brady Beldekas, Jake Beldekas and Xavier Rojas De Los Santos of the Chicago Fire applied heavy pressure leading to goals by teammates Xavier Rojas De Los Santos and Jonathan Malley. All of the players on the Chicago Fire played relentless defense fending off any threat that came thru making it tough for the Timbers to score.
Girls Kindergarten games:
Chicago Red Stars vs. FC Kansas City
FC Kansas City would not back down in this back and forth match. Goals by Jenna Giammarco and Emma Tarin brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills were shown by Molly Guyette. In addition, the midfield play of Madison Forbush kept constant pressure on the opponents net.
Boys Grade 1 games:
Portland Timbers vs. DC United
The Portland Timbers were also impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Aiden Largenton and Jonas Arulraj leading to goals by Logan Tautkus and Gavin Burke. The defense showcased their skills today with Ryan Belanger and Beckett Rosner keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game.
NY Red Bulls vs. Chicago Fire
In what could have been confused as a World Cup Match, the N.Y. Red Bulls started off strong with great offensive pressure from Alexander D’Anna, Luke Deprofio, Dennis Desouza and Vinny Vindice. Coupled with the steel-like defense of Jonathan Mason and Kevin Pruslin, their efforts made for an incredible game. Alexander D’Anna scored first for the N.Y. Red Bulls, while the Hope Solo like effort of Johnathan Mason and Kevin Pruslin provided solid goal-keeping to keep their team alive.
Girls Grade 2 games:
Chicago Red Stars (home) vs. Houston Dash (away)
The stands were filled to capacity for this action-packed match between the CHIGACO RED STARS and HOUSTON DASH. Due to the efforts of Addyson Hunt, Allesandra Delgenio and Rebecca Hughes in the front line, many scoring opportunities were presented. Outstanding mid-field and defensive play by Madison Fenton, Kyra Turner and Madeline Long kept the ball in their opponent’s field for most of the game set up many scoring chances. The nearly flawless defense of Delaney Ward provided great protection for the Goal Keepers.
Top-Notch play kept people watching this one. Aggressive and fast paced offensive plays by Raina Raposa, Nikki Clarke, Isabella Hart and Molly Lydon of the Houston Dash applied heavy pressure leading to a goal by teammate Alexandra Malley. Houston’s Arianna Cook, Kiley Bloom and Skylar Driscoll played lock down defense protecting goal keepers Eleanor Ragsdale and Natalie Moretti who both made spectacular saves while in net.
Boston Breakers vs. Portland Thorns
The Boston Breakers would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Alexandra Quick and Callie Mccauley brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Gabriella Fitzgibbons and Sydney Macpherson. In addition, the midfield play of Kimberly Kane and Celia Vindice kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net. Celia Vindice performance in net was also spectacular with too many saves to count. Also, returning to the field this week was Kailyn Harless. Thanks for a great season girls, go Boston Breakers!
Boys Grade 2 games:
NE Revs vs. Chicago Fire
An amazing finish to a great season as the Revs took on the Fire in an epic battle. Spectacular goals throughout the game from the likes of the Revs top offense in Tommy Lewis and Oliver Ferrer, with strong offensive support up front from PJ MacMahon and Axel Erickson. Outstanding goalkeeping efforts displayed by Tyler Marinho and Spencer Bagtaz alongside remarkable defensive efforts from Justin Gambale, Corey Taylor and Patrick Maillet kep the Revs in striking distance. The season ended on a high when the season-long ever elusive goal from Kaleb Molina finally found the back of the net.
