The Department of Planning and Conservation held an Open Space Workshop on Wednesday at 6pm in the Wilmington High School cafeteria.
Planning Director Valerie Gingrich, Assistant Director/Conservation Agent Winifred McGowan, Assistant Planner Michael Vivaldi, and Clerk Cheryl Licciardi were present to listen to residents discuss the town’s current and future Open Space needs.
While the turnout was light, residents — including Board of Selectmen Chair Mike Champoux and Conservation Commission member Michael McInnis — provided valuable feedback, much of which reinforced through the initial results of the town’s current Open Space survey.
Simply put, Wilmington residents want more walking trails. Many would also like to see a water/splash park, a dog park and more picnic and green space. According to the survey results, residents are generally satisfied with the quality and quantity of playgrounds, playing fields and courts.
More than 300 residents have already taken the survey! Have you? Take it now by clicking HERE. The deadline is Friday, June 5.
