BREAKING: State Police Issue Statement On Today’s Crash That Killed Man Reportedly From Wilmington

WILMINGTON, MA — As previously reported, a Wilmington man was killed this afternoon in a dump truck crash on Route 1 in Saugus.

The Massachusetts State Police just issued the following statement on the crash:

“Just after 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, State Police from the Danvers barracks responded to a crash involving a dump truck on Route 1 South, north of the Lynn Fells Parkway in Saugus. Information collected in the investigation by Trooper Roland Cormier indicates that a man was traveling on Route 1 South in a dump truck when his vehicle struck the left side guardrail, causing it to roll onto its side before returning to an upright position in the roadway. The operator and sole occupant of the dump truck was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. State Police were assisted on scene by Saugus Fire and EMS, Saugus PD, members of the State Police Community Action Team.

The identity of the operator is being withheld pending family notification.”
