Below are some recent game summaries submitted by Wilmington Little League.
Majors:
Red Sox 6, Orioles 4 (April 22)
Harry Seronian pitched 5 2/3 solid innings, striking out 10, to lead the Red Sox over the Orioles in this back and forth game. Aiden O’Connell came in to get the final out and preserve the win for the Red Sox. The Red Sox got hits from Seronian (2 hits), Cam Banks, Derek Gallucci, and Garrett Moretto. Colin Sainato and Tommy Mallinson both pitched well for the Orioles. The Orioles got hits from Colin Sainato, Sean Messinger, Shane Spencer, Dominic Gabardi, and Tyler Newhouse. Devin Milano played a solid game at 2B for the Orioles.
White Sox 20, Tigers 3 (April 25)
The White Sox got runs early sparked by a first inning Home Run by Aidan Elkins. Elkins, Sean Riley, Ryan Ackerley, and Patrick Xavier all had multiple hit games for the White Sox, while Nolan Vigeant and Matt Vinal had multiple hit games for the Tigers. Ryan Ackerley and Dillon McGrath contributed solid pitching performances for the White Sox.
AAA:
Braves 13, Astros 5 (April 22)
On Wednesday night the triple AAA Braves went up against the Astros. The Braves got the hitting going early with a double from Tommy Cox and later in the game with pitching from Dillion Bloom. The Astros answered back with a couple of big plays from Marcello Misuraca catching and Brian Curdo pitching
Cardinals 11, Braves 6 (April 23)
The AAA Cardinals beat the Braves 11 to 6 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon game at Rotary Park. Both team came out to play hard. The Cardinals started off with 3 plus strong innings pitched by Dan Passerini who also had some key hits in the game and was awarded player of the game. The Cardinals also had some solid pitching from Matt DeSario, Hayden Kane and Ashton Lowell to keep the Braves to six runs. The Cardinals had some good catching behind the plate by Lowell and Cam Marzilli. Owen Mitchell, Phil Murray, Aaron Dancewicz and Steven Contrada had some great at bats for the Cards. For the Braves, Pat LeBlanc played some strong defense with Steven Malfa pitching well and some strong catching by Dillon Bloom behind the plate.
Cardinals 15, Giants 6 (April 25)
The AAA Cardinals beat the Giants 15-6 in a very good game. Steven Contrada pitched 3 strong innings for St. Louis striking out 5 batters. Nate Alberti shut down the Giants in the remaining innings. The game was tied going into the 4th inning when the Cards opened it up. Alberti led the Cardinals bats with 4 hits and scoring 4 runs to receive player of the game. Contrada had a blast in the first inning with the ball going under the outfield fence for a ground rule double. Nick Doyle, Derek Ingram and Matt DeSario also had big hits for the Cards. The Giants had good pitching from Jacob Rogue, Owen Cushing and Joey “Noodles” McLaren.
