Wilmington Election Results — Peterson Edges Martinson; Champoux Crushes MacDonald

WILMINGTON, MA — The voters have spoken!  Below are the results of the 2015 Annual Town Election.  Winners are in red.

In the marquee race, Robert Peterson, Jr. edged out Leigh John Martinson by 247 votes to become Town Moderator. In the only other contested race, Selectman Mike Champoux crushed challenger Kevin MacDonald by 1,624 votes.  The voters have also returned Wilmington School Committee members MJ Byrnes and Manny Mulas; Shawsheen Tech School Committee member Jim Gillis; and Housing Authority member Leona Bombard to their respective seats.

Town Moderator (3-year term)

– Leigh Martinson — 1,049

– Robert Peterson, Jr. — 1,296

Board of Selectmen (1 seat, 3-year term)

– Mike Champoux (incumbent) — 1,954

– Kevin MacDonald — 330

Wilmington School Committee (2 seats, 3-year term)

– M.J. Byrnes (incumbent) — 1,809

– Manny Mulas (incumbent) — 1,578

Shawsheen Tech School Committee (1 seat, 3-year term)

– Jim Gillis (incumbent) — 1,934

Wilmington Housing Authority (1 seat, 5-year term)

– Leona Bombard (incumbent) — 1,821

Turnout: Today’s turnout was 2,370 out of 15,806 voters.  That’s 15% (or 14.99%).
