School may be on vacation this week, but demolition work on the old Wilmington High School continues. The portion of the building closest to the Roman House is gone. The school’s smokestack was also taken down yesterday.
Also, the Wilmington Advocate reported yesterday that, according to Superintendent Mary DeLai, the recovered time capsule that was buried near the portion of the building that was just demolished, will be publicly opened at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 10. That’s 65 years to the day the old high school held its dedication ceremony in 1950. Read the Advocate’s note HERE.

What’s going to happen to the Roman House?
TBD. I think that’s going to be one of the next “big issues” in town.
