Wilmington High’s Sabrina Doyle Wins Business’s “School Spirit” Photo Contest

MELROSE, MA — Photography students from Reading and Wilmington were chosen as winners in the first “School Spirit” Photo Contest sponsored by New England’s leading digital imaging equipment retailer, Hunt’s Photo & Video.

Reading Memorial High School senior Sarah Bond was awarded the Grand Prize for her action photo of a high school runner clearing a track hurdle. The prize will bring a $500 Hunt’s Photo donation to the Reading Memorial High School photography department.

Wilmington High School sophomore Sabrina Doyle took home the First Prize of a $500 Mac Group Gift Card from Hunt’s for her photo of a student with her face painted in metallic colors and spirited slogans, including the words, “Go Wildcats,” scrawled across her forehead. The Gift Card will be used towards the purchase of photographic equipment for Wilmington High School’s photography department.

Forty submissions were entered into the contest and 12 finalists were chosen, including students from Lynnfield, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Peabody, Reading, Salem, and Wilmington. The photos were judged on content, creativity, clarity and composition, explains Hunt’s Photo Customer Service Director Chris Guinto, a judge in the contest. Winners were chosen on, “their ability to capture the pride the photographer felt for their high school as well as the quality of the image taken.” Contest judges also included Hunt’s Photo President Scott Farber, Retail Operations Director Michael Mitchell, and General Sales Manager Brian Holmes.

An exhibit of the finalist’s photos will remain on display until April 19th in the Gallery at Hunt’s flagship store, 100 Main Street, Melrose. The public is invited.
