The library is now turning to the public to help bolster its online historical photograph collection.

On Saturday, April 4 from 9:30am to noon, the Wilmington Memorial Library will hold its first “Scan and Share Day.”  Library staff is asking the public to bring up to ten photographs (or postcards) taken prior to 1980, featuring Wilmington buildings, sporting events, social events, businesses and neighborhoods.   Staff will scan each photograph and provide digital copies to participants who bring flash drives.

These scanned photographs will then be added to the photograph section of the library’s digitized local history collection, which currently consists of approximately 60 photographs, many provided by Jim Durkee and Arthur Bond.
