Fred Shine, a 1967 WHS alum and Vietnam War veteran, spoke to a WHS English class yesterday morning. He discussed his war experience and a book that the class had read, The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien.
Shine paid tribute to his fellow WHS alum who died in the Vietnam War – John Fullerton Jr., Robert Parent, John Rich and Richard Welch.
Fullerton has a monument on Grove Avenue. Parent has a monument at the Old Town Hall on Middlesex Avenue. Rich has a monument on Lowell Street, near Textron. Welch has a monument at Main Street and Bridge Lane. For a complete list of all the memorials in town, click HERE.
