OBITUARY: Brian D. Shukis, 65

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Brian D. Shukis, age 65, of Lowell, MA, formerly of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 10, 2024.

Brian was born in Winchester, MA, on December 30, 1958; he was the cherished son of Francis A. and Joanne M. (White) Shukis of Wilmington. Brian was raised in a “tight knit” neighborhood in Wilmington, he played Wilmington youth sports, and attended Wilmington Public Schools where he made many life-long friends.

Brian had a passion for cars of all types; following graduation he took a position as an auto mechanic where he worked for many years. Brian had an endearing personality and a vast knowledge of his field; he got along well with his co-workers and treated his customers respectfully and very fairly.

Brian’s greatest joy in life was when he became a dad to David and Christine; they were his world. Brian was always there to lend a hand, encourage them to reach for their dreams, and cheer them on no matter what they were involved in. Brian’s world became even brighter with the addition of his daughter-in-law and son-in-law and when he took on his role as “Grandpa”; a title he cherished. Brian’s favorite thing to do in life was to surround himself with family, have fun, and make countless memories to be shared for many years.

In his spare time, Brian, looked forward to hitting the open road on his motorcycle and spending summers with family and friends on Pawtuckaway Lake in New Hampshire where everyone always had a great time.

Brian will be fondly remembered as a “great guy” he was genuine, loving, and had a great sense of humor. Brian had a huge heart; he would always be the first to lend anyone a hand, never expecting anything in return. He was the type of guy that everyone who met him loved him, and they would all have a happy or funny story to share about him. Brian’s sudden passing has left a void but his memory will live on in the lives of those he touched.

Brian is survived by his parents Frank and Joanne Shukis of Wilmington, he was the beloved father of David Shukis and his wife Joy of North Reading and Christine (Shukis) Nee and her husband William of Wilmington. He was the loving “Grandpa” of Theo, Carson, Braden, Connor, and Ryan. Dear brother of Debbie Stone and her late husband Gary of Natick, Frank Shukis and his wife Beth of Virginia, and Diane Hoover of Billerica. Brian is further survived by his nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, June 22nd for Visiting Hours from 12:00-2:30 p.m. with a time of sharing at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory may be made to Local Heroes, Inc., P. O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.
