LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Bryson Thanks Voters For Her Election

Dear Editor and Residents of Wilmington,

I am deeply grateful and honored to have been elected to serve on the Wilmington School Committee. As I have assured you throughout this campaign, I will approach this work with urgency, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to serving all of our students. I would like to thank all of the families and residents who have shared their concerns, hopes, and goals for our district. It is through meeting so many of you that I have been able to think deeply and critically about the issues facing our district. Thank you for trusting me to serve on the School Committee and please know that I will be a voice for all families and residents in Wilmington. I’d also like to congratulate Steve Bjork on his reelection and extend my warmest regards to the other School Committee candidates for highlighting the significant and pressing issues in our district.

I would like to publicly thank my campaign group and supporters. To everyone who held signs, sent Dear Friend cards, placed signs on their lawn, delivered lawn signs, posted about the election or encouraged a friend to vote, I thank you. My dear friend, Lianne Stoddard, thank you for designing all of our campaign materials. To my neighbors, whom I refer to as my Massachusetts family, thank you for encouraging and supporting me throughout this campaign. I absolutely could not have done this work without you. I’d also like to thank Judy O’Connell, Jo Newhouse, Donna Connolly, Gerry Walsh, Greg and Deanna Wright, and Jen Bolanos for writing such thoughtful endorsement letters and for their ongoing advice and support. I was immensely fortunate to have two very talented and focused campaign managers. Jen Kennedy, my deepest gratitude for organizing our entire social media campaign and for working tirelessly to update, post, share, and provide daily updates and reminders to me and our campaign group. Jen Bolanos, I wouldn’t have known where to begin if it weren’t for you. Thank you for keeping us all organized, completing tasks before I knew they existed, and providing ongoing support and encouragement. Finally, I am deeply grateful to my family for the support they have provided throughout this campaign. My husband Jeff Bryson, the most dedicated and talented educator I have ever known, has committed his career to providing excellent education to all children in Chelsea as a teacher and principal, and is my daily inspiration. My children, Hannah and Theo, thank you for cheering me on and for understanding how important this work is to me.

In closing, it has been an honor to meet Shaun Neville and the WCTV staff, Town Moderator Rob Peterson Jr., Krista Bresnahan of the Town Crier, and Robert Hayes of the Wilmington Apple. Their deep commitment to providing excellent coverage of this campaign and election should be applauded. I am deeply appreciative for the many opportunities to engage with the public through their offerings and again, thank them for working so diligently to keep all of us informed. I am honored to serve on the Wilmington School Committee and to represent you as we engage in the important work of hiring our new superintendent as well as addressing the town’s educational goals and policies, the school budget and school improvement plans. To the town of Wilmington, thank you for electing me as your School Committee representative. I assure you that I will remain dedicated to this important work and I’m excited to begin this week.

With gratitude,
Jenn Bryson
